This French-inspired frozen treat at Costco is an easy 4th of July dessert – SheKnows

The 4th of July weekend is almost here, and that means we’re gearing up for a delicious dining experience. We’ve stocked up on that store-bought barbecue sauce that the Ina Garten brand loves, and we’re already craving the flavor of Giada De Laurentiis Peach and Corn Salad alongside our selection of grill foods. But there is one important part of the meal that we kind of forgot to do our prep on: the dessert. You know what that means, don’t you? It’s time to head to Costco. We just learned they’re selling a French-inspired frozen treat that will be the star of your 4th of July celebration (aside from the fireworks, of course).

We first saw Costco’s La Vie Gourmand Macaroon Ice Cream Sandwiches in a video by @Costco_Empties on Instagram. Each box contains eight macaron ice cream sandwiches, which are sprinkled with rainbow sprinkles and filled with vanilla ice cream, and they cost $15.79. They are also gluten free. According to the original poster, “My children said they were better than in France!”

For those not in the know, macarons are a French dessert consisting of two light cookies made from meringue and almond flour filled with buttercream, jam or ganache. The cookies are slightly crispy on the outside, but chewy when you bite into them, and in Costco’s frozen version, the center filling is replaced with premium vanilla ice cream. They’re pretty hard to make from scratch, so it seems like a treat well worth the cost of a Costco membership.
