REVIEW: 50th Anniversary EARidescent Firefly Mocktail and Smoked Meatloaf from Flame Tree BBQ at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
[ad_1]
Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary has begun and celebrations are taking place throughout the resort. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom after a screening of the new Disney KiteTails, we stopped by the Flame Tree Barbecue for dinner to try out some of the specials.

Smoked Meatloaf Platter – $ 13.99
BBQ-glazed homemade smoked meatloaf served with garlic bread, fries, baked beans and coleslaw

The only thing that sets this dish apart from the celebrations is the “50†barbecue sauce on the meatloaf.

We were torn on this dish. While this is a solid quality meatloaf, it is quite a heavy meal for a hot day in the parks. Nothing fancy about it, but a decent fare all around. The barbecued smoked meatloaf is tamed as seasonings are added, and all side dishes are the classic versions found throughout the property. Overall nothing to write home about, but not too shabby. If you’re looking for decent comfort food, this is a solid option.
EARidescent Firefly with Glow – $ 8.49
Pineapple juice, POWERADE® Mountain Berry Blast, topped with a touch of Sprite® and topped with pineapple “ears†with Glow Cube

This drink is definitely one for pineapple lovers! Although presented as a mix of Pineapple, Mountain Berry Blast, and Sprite, Pineapple is overwhelming. After mixing the drink, we were able to taste tiny notes of Powerade, but pineapple was still the predominant flavor. The presentation is adorable, and with so many drinks from the 50th that contain alcohol, it was nice to have a non-alcoholic option.
