NEW YORK, NY (JULY 19, 2021) – License IV, the French wine brand designed for curious and adventurous enthusiasts who love good wine without the rules, is expanding its offering to include French wine in cans in the United States. The company’s first canned offerings include their flagship Blanc – the very first Muscadet released in this format – and Rosé, both now available for purchase in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, New York, and Washington, DC. and will continue to deploy. in fine wine stores across the country this year.

License IV – founded by French sommelier Gregory Castells – changes the idea that French wine is intimidating and instead has developed a range of wines that are complex, yet easy to enjoy without compromising quality and taste. All the wines are made from small family cellars in France and selected with the same discernment adhered to by the legendary French wine importer, Martine’s Wines, the parent company of License IV.

The name itself, License IV, takes its name from the license in France that allows cafes, restaurants, hotels and nightclubs to serve alcohol. Official enamel signs are found bolted to the walls of these establishments throughout France.

White – Melon de Bourgogne from the edges of the eastern Loire Valley, this will be the first Muscadet offered in a can. With aromas of fresh cut grass, salted lime zest and flint, the palate is vibrant and refreshing while the mid-palate is dry and reminiscent of citrus and oyster shells with a salty finish. and herbaceous. It’s best with oysters and clams, appetizing with marcona almonds, salted butter, bread and anchovies and fantastic with fresh goat cheese.

Pink РA blend of Grenache (80%) and Merlot (20%) from grapes from organic farming in Provence. The ros̩ presents on the nose notes of blood orange, fresh strawberry and pink peony, with a fruity and luminous palate, airy with notes of strawberry and pomegranate. It ends fresh and light, calling for another drink. Goes perfectly with a caprese salad, cold cuts or marinated octopus, but especially on its own.

The License IV Rouge is a blend of Grenache (85%) and Syrah (15%) from Valréas in the southern Rhône. Rouge is currently available in 1 liter bottles, and will be available in cans in 2022.

Gregory Castells, originally from Provence, started License IV as part of his ongoing quest for a life filled with delicious food and wine. Trained at the Escoffier catering school and the Tain L’Hermitage sommelier school, Gregory then developed the wine program at Gordon Ramsay’s Petrus in London and became head sommelier at the famous French laundry Thomas Keller’s in Napa Valley. In 2012, Martine Saunier selected him to succeed him at Martine’s Wines, legendary national importer and wholesaler of fine wines. Gregory runs Martine’s with his partner and CEO, Kate Laughlin, and often travels to France and beyond to research premium wines for tables and shelves across the United States.
