Holiday Diner offers classic charm and great food

Holiday Diner has been a fixture in the Danbury community since it opened over 70 years ago in 1947.

Owner George Psarofagis said his parents, Bill and Maria, were delighted to purchase the beloved restaurant in August 2000.

“My parents have been in the restaurant business for 40 years and when they heard the restaurant was for sale, they jumped at the chance to be part of such a diverse and thriving community,” Psarofagis said.

The Holiday Diner is located on bustling White Street and within walking distance of Western Connecticut State University. Students who show their school ID can even get a 10% discount on meals. Seniors can also benefit from this discount.

This kind of hospitality and goodwill keeps customers coming back and becoming familiar faces to the friendly staff.

Psarofagis describes the atmosphere there as the popular TV show Cheerswho is iconic for his camaraderie and welcoming nature.

“Everyone knows each other and 90% of customers are regulars,” he notes.

Holiday Diner can accommodate a total of 120 people in its booths, tables or counters.

It offers all the traditional restaurant fare, such as a full breakfast menu with clubs, burgers, and wraps. These delicious comfort foods are prepared daily to the highest quality.

“We’re not your typical restaurant with an encyclopedic menu. We offer all the dinner classics, but we do everything we can from scratch,” Psarofagis said.

Another aspect of Holiday Diner that sets it apart is the exceptional staff.

“We really focus on service quality, because I believe that service is just as important as food. The average seniority of our employees is over 10 years, which is unprecedented in restaurants,” said said Psarofagis.

Customers can always rely on takeout, and the restaurant even offers delivery through Uber Eats and DoorDash.

Catering is also available, with a full breakfast catering menu.
