Basan opens next week: A long-awaited downtown Detroit restaurant from the team behind Gray Ghost, Bashan will open Tuesday with food and drink. The Mad Nice will open soon: Blending “modern Italian specialties with a chill California vibe,” Mad Nice is set to open next month in the Cass Corridor. From Heirloom Hospitality Group (Townhouse, Prime + Proper), Mad Nice is a 10,500 square foot restaurant and retail space, as well as a full coffee bar. The chef and partner is former Otus Supply chef Myles McVay. Before the pandemic, the space was set up to be an Italian restaurant called Sauce from the same group. Ann Arbor Venue Concept Opening: A multi-concept restaurant called Venue recently opened in a former grocery store in Ann Abor near Michigan Stadium. The Venue is home to Chef Thad Gilles’ Venue Brassiere, a Mexican concept called Mesa Taqueria, Pizza Forum with Neapolitan-style pizzas, handmade pasta from Pasta Forum, and Bar19 with cocktails, wine and beer . Jack Daniel’s Barrel Tree at Little Caesars Arena raises awareness of Operation Ride Home: Tennessee whiskey brand Jack Daniels brings back its five-tier cask tree to the entrance of Little Caesars Arena. Next week there will be an opening event to raise funds and awareness of Operation Ride Home, as well as a DJ, food and cocktails. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on one of five authentic Jack Daniels whiskey casks — the retired ones, they’re empty — to support the nonprofit, which aims to connect military families during the holidays. 5:30 p.m. Nov. 16.
